The Pinoy Big Brother Winner talks about his life after winning the reality TV show and how he uses technology to manage his work and personal life
The Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) house has once again opened its door to a new group of housemates hoping to bag the title of “Big Winner”. One of its male winners, Slater Young, shares that life has been more exciting after joining the reality TV show.
After emerging as the Big Winner of Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited in 2012, the aptly-nicknamed “Hotshot Engineer of Cebu” at the PBB house also joined local showbiz after leaving Kuya’s house and brought his acting chops to TV shows and movies like Maalaala Mo Kaya, A Beautiful Affair, Juan dela Cruz, and Ina Kapatid Anak to name a few. Today, young has gone back to his roots and has set up shop back in Cebu.
“Life has definitely been more exciting and colorful after Pinoy Big Brother. Before the show, I worked for my father – managing construction projects as an engineer,” tells Young, who has, since the, ventured into business of his own. “Being in Pinoy Big Brother gave me a lot of self confidence, guts to take on new challenges, and the willingness to go outside of my comfort zone.”
Young has ventured into business of his own called Liteblock, an eco-friendly alternative to wall construction (www.liteblock.ph) and has partnered with his Manila-based friends Victor Consunji and Stephen Ku to set-up a real estate developing company called YKC. He is also currently developing an Android and iOS 2.0 version of a mobile dating app called KLIK with Ku and other Cebu-based friends under the company KLIKable Apps.
With a shift from his celebrity status to living a more normal life as a full-fledged entrepreneur, Young adds, “Life in Cebu has been a bit more quiet. I spend my time managing day to day operations of my businesses while trying to squeeze in tennis and some sports during my free time to stay healthy and active.”
With his many activities, Young uses his mobile devices like his table to manage his hectic schedule and to keep himself entertained. “I can’t live without my tablet as I use it to keep up my professional and personal life. My favorite apps are Spotify, Audible and YouTube.”
Aside from social media, audiobooks, and music, Young also loves playing games on his gadgets, especially Candy Crush. “I can’t stop playing Candy Crush Saga and Candy Crush Soda Saga. I love to play games on my tablet to pass the time like when I’m waiting for my friends or flights at the airport.”
This is the reason why he was chosen to be the face of Tattoo Mobile Broadband, the broadband of leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom, and its flagship data promo GoSURF50.
