KathNiel’s Rice Paddy Art Creates Buzz Online

  • September 7, 2017

A rice paddy art is an art form originated in Japan where people plant various colors of rice to create humungous images in a paddy field. We’ve also started doing this in the Philippines since 2014 in Philippine Rice Research Institute, and the most popular one is the image of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. KathNiel’s rice paddy art was recently created in Nueva Ecija.

The purple rice plants used in KathNiel‘s rice paddy art came from a different country according to FutureRice ICT specialist, Ani Nehemiah Caballong, “Galing sa ibang bansa ang variety na ito... purple ‘yung leaves… ginagamit natin mga sikat na tao para mas makahikayat [ng pansin].”

Among the popular personalities with rice paddy artworks are Coco Martin, President Rodrigo Duterte, and Vice President Leni Robredo.
